Ticket and pass purchase
For local buses in Győr (not for intercity buses), one option is to buy tickets using the ticket vending machine. The price of a ticket purchased from here is 250 HUF/trip. If there is no ticket vending machine at the “Győr (Ménfőcsanak) Királyszék út” bus stop, you can also buy a ticket from the bus driver for 440 HUF/trip. If you plan to travel by bus multiple times, you can buy a block of 10 tickets from a vending machine for 2250 HUF.
Another option is the general 24-hour pass, which can also only be purchased from vending machines for 800 HUF. The pass provides unlimited travel for 24 hours from the set date and time (hour, minute) on Volán local services.
A general 7-day pass is also available, valid from 0:00 am on the start day until midnight on the 6th day following the start day. It costs 2500 HUF and allows travel when accompanied by an ID card, passport, or card-format driver’s license.
The price of a quarterly pass between work and home is 16.500 HUF, a monthly pass is 19.800 HUF.
Tickets and passes can also be purchased online through the “Közlekedési Mobiljegy” app, with prices as described above. The one-way tickets purchased here are valid for 30 days from the date of purchase without being used.
When boarding, log into the application and select the valid ticket or pass for the specific route. After pressing the ‘scan code to board’ button, scan the QR code placed on the bus. Show the animated symbol to the driver after the successful operation: it confirms that your ticket or pass is valid. An active internet connection is required for scanning.
For intercity buses, it is not possible to purchase a ticket from a machine; tickets can only be bought from the bus driver, and the price depends on the travel distance. Therefore, you must also inform the driver of the stop where you will be getting off when boarding.
